Company

A software company the size of one person, run like a serious one.

BarretOps builds small mobile applications for everyday use. The work is shipped weekly and tested before it goes out — and this page says plainly where the business actually stands.

What we build

Life is the main product. It removes the sorting step: you type a sentence — a bill, an appointment, a task, a shopping list — and the app works out what it is and files it into your calendar, your budget and your reminders at once. The parsing runs on the phone, so it is instant, works without signal, and nothing you type is uploaded to be read or scored.

EnvelopePrint is the second, smaller app: it prints an addressed envelope at true size from a phone. It exists because the release pipeline was already built, and a second product costs a fraction of the first.

Both follow the same four rules — works offline, no account, your data stays yours, and it tells you when something didn't work. Those constraints are what make a one-person shop able to support the software it ships.

How it makes money

Life is a subscription: $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year, with a seven-day free trial, billed through the Apple and Google stores. There is no advertising, no data sold, and no free tier that has to be subsidized forever.

The cost structure is the point. Development is the founder's own time; there are no salaries, no offices and no servers to run, because the app does its work on the customer's phone. The number of subscribers needed to cover every ongoing cost of the business is therefore small, and each additional app publishes onto the same store accounts, the same pipeline and the same support desk at close to zero marginal cost.

Prices shown are current pricing. Nothing on this page is a forecast, an offer, or a solicitation of investment.
